Searching for tethers:
imaging and imagining future lands with Christina Battle

JUNE |  12:00 - 2:30 PM  |  Online over Zoom

In conjunction with her program dispatches from these so-called lands..., guest curator Christina Battle will be facilitating a collective working session (at a distance):
Searching for tethers: imaging and imagining future lands.

Participants will consider prompts and strategies for viewing the land from new perspectives. Centered around the screening program’s zine instruction set, as well as prompts initially engaged with through the participatory project connecting thru grasses (2020/2021), the session will begin by considering the visual perspective of TERRA, a NASA research satellite that will soon fall back to the earth. Spending time considering the ways in which we both image and imagine the land around us, together we will focus on strategies for visualizing and narrativizing the complex stories wrapped up within our relationships to land (with a focus on the especially complex web of a mess of climate change). Note, participants are expected to gather and respond to provided prompts ahead of our 2.5 hour online gathering.

THIS WORKSHOP IS FREE TO ATTEND AND IS LIMITED TO 8 SPOTS.
